Hunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton | Book Review

 

I finished Hunting Adeline and just sat there for a while.

Not because I didn't know what to say. Because I had too many things to say.

After loving Haunting Adeline, I went into this book expecting darkness, suspense, and obsession. What I wasn't prepared for was the emotional rollercoaster that H.D. Carlton had waiting for me.

This book hurt.

A lot.

The first half was genuinely difficult to read at times. Watching Adeline go through everything she endured broke my heart. There were moments when I had to put the book down and take a break because the emotions felt so heavy. The fear, the pain, the trauma... it all felt incredibly real.

But that's also what made Adeline such an amazing character.

She wasn't just surviving. She was fighting.

Watching her refuse to break despite everything thrown at her made me admire her even more than I already did in the first book. Her journey throughout this story was powerful, heartbreaking, and inspiring all at once.

And then there's Zade.

The man spent this entire book operating on pure determination, rage, and obsession. Every chapter from his perspective had me completely invested because you could feel how desperately he wanted to find Adeline.

The reunion?

I don't think words can properly describe the relief I felt.

After all the pain, all the fear, and all the emotional damage this book put me through, those moments felt earned.

What I loved most about Hunting Adeline was that it wasn't just about romance. It was about survival. It was about healing. It was about finding strength when everything has been taken from you.

That's what made this book so memorable for me.

It wasn't always easy to read, and it definitely wasn't a light-hearted experience, but it delivered an emotional impact that very few books have managed to achieve.

By the end, I felt exhausted, relieved, heartbroken, happy, and emotionally drained all at the same time.

Which is apparently what a five-star read looks like these days. Humans pay money to suffer emotionally through fictional characters. Fascinating species. 😭

Hunting Adeline took everything I loved about Haunting Adeline and raised the emotional stakes even higher. It was darker, more painful, more intense, and ultimately more rewarding.

This book broke my heart, stitched it back together, and then left me thinking about it long after I turned the final page.
