There are books you read peacefully with a cup of coffee, and then there are books like Ward D, which make you suspicious of every doctor, nurse, and random shadow in your room. Humanity really does love turning simple night shifts into murder festivals. 😌

🩺 My Thoughts

Ward D follows Amy Brenner, a medical student assigned to an overnight shift in a locked psychiatric ward. What starts as a routine night quickly spirals into a nightmare filled with disappearing people, suspicious staff, and enough twists to make your brain file a complaint.

Freida McFadden had me questioning absolutely everyone. Every chapter ended with me saying, "One more chapter," and suddenly it was 2 a.m. and my sleep schedule was applying for workers' compensation.

The atmosphere was creepy and claustrophobic, and the pacing was insane. There wasn't a single dull moment. Just when I thought I had figured everything out, Freida casually threw another plot twist in my face.

And can we talk about Spider-Dan? Sir deserved a medal. 🕷️❤️

💭 What I Loved

  • Fast-paced and impossible to put down.
  • Constant twists and surprises.
  • Creepy hospital setting.
  • Characters you constantly second-guess.
  • A shocking ending that stays with you.
  • Spider-Dan. Enough said.

🤔 What I Didn't Love

Honestly? Nothing. Ward D kept me entertained from beginning to end. It was chaotic, unsettling, and exactly the kind of thriller I love.

If you're looking for a psychological thriller that'll keep you awake long past your bedtime and make you distrust everyone, Ward D is a must-read. Freida McFadden once again proved that she wakes up every morning and chooses plot twists.

  I finished Hunting Adeline and just sat there for a while. Not because I didn't know what to say. Because I had too many things to say.
